I had the pleasure of styling Blondita’s first runway show, and I’m blogging to share my inspiration behind the accessories & styling! Angela loves how girlie the Betsy Johnson & VS Pink runway shows were, so after seeing Angela’s new colorful pieces in person we knew a candy wonderland theme would be the perfect fit. I made a deck of what pieces I would put together, and came up with what fun accessories we could add & design.Thank you to @goodsport.xyz for making the anklets, hats, purses & hair clips come to life. Thank you to @emmalitarosa for printing on the stockings.
The music note anklets I designed were inspired by Lindsay Lohan’s ankle monitor. Chanel made anklets inspired by Lindsay as well for SS08. I thought at first we would have them 3D printed with large 3D bows, but music notes are a core part of her new collection so this ended up being even better.
The dog purses were inspired by VS Pink, Thom Browne bags & Angela’s dog Ginger.
A candy wonderland inspired show could not be a show without a large lollipop!
I wanted HUGE candy necklaces to pair with the large lollipop, but Angela & I found some fun chain necklaces in the DTLA fashion district. It was becoming difficult to find the perfect beads that were matte or someone to make a large replica of a candy necklace & these still gave a similar feel.
The Blondita printed stockings were inspired by this Agent Provocateur photo.
For this look Angela designed a dress that looks like Snow White. I had the idea that instead of her holding an apple it would be fun to have an apple with an arrow going through it on her head.
I saw this look & knew a nurse hat would look amazing with this dress. I made my own nurse hat for Halloween inspired by A.F. Vandervorst & vintage hats, so this felt like a Blondita version of it.
The styling of this outfit was inspired by Antoni & Alison. They have the best styling for graphic t shirts.
A lot of my fashion research & knowledge that I have collected over the years made it easy to come up with the ideas. Instead of making a moodboard for this show the concept was pretty straight forward & just clicked in my brain. I was mentally pulling from Antoni & Alison shows, VS Pink shows, movies & things I had subliminally consumed.
Super happy with how this turned out & I can not wait to style more shows! Thanks for reading!
